Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Bursaries

The University has 15 scholarships, worth £10,000 each, to support widening participation students in the full-time study of the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

The scholarships are only available for women, black, disabled, or low-income background students, and are being funded by the Office for Students (OfS), Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Office for Artificial Intelligence (OAI).

How to apply

To apply for the award, you should first apply to study MSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

Then, complete the form below and answer the following questions:

  1. What is your rationale for wanting to study this conversion Masters? Please include your prior academic background and/or career to date.
  2. How will this scholarship allow you to improve your prospects? Please state clearly how this will help you advance (or enter) the UK workforce?
  3. How do your future ambitions relate to this Masters? How will your undertaking this Masters benefit the wider community and others?

When reviewing your application, we will look at personal circumstances, widening participation criteria and take into account academic background, achievements and excellence. All decisions on scholarships are both discretionary and final.

Eligibility

This award is only available to full-time students studying MSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

To be eligible for the bursaries, applicants must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:

(a) You are female.

(b) You are from one of the following ethnic groups: Black or Black British – African; Black or Black British – Caribbean; Other Black Background; Mixed White and Black African; Mixed White and Black Caribbean.

(c) You are registered disabled.

(d) You are from a low-income background, as evidenced by receipt of a maintenance grant and/or a higher rate of maintenance loan during undergraduate studies.

We will prioritise (a), (b), and (c), before considering (d) alone.

This is a competitive scholarship scheme, and eligibility for the scholarship does not guarantee an award. The Faculty of Science and Engineering will review all applications to generate a ranked list. We aim to inform all applicants of the outcome of this process by the end of July 2024
