Important information about Allen High School

Allen High School is over 100 years old, but despite the age of the school, it has been through many renovations and renaming. The school, located in Dallas, is a public high school in the Dallas Independent School District.

The total population of the school is almost 8,200 students, with roughly 28% being Hispanic and African American, 23% being White, and 17% being other. The majority of students, 70%, come from ethnic minorities.

The town of Allen was originally built by a natural gas pipeline, but then became a suburb of Dallas. In 2024, the town is still predominantly middle class, with most families with children coming from middle-class families. That is the reason for the high population of the high school.

Academics at Allen High School

Allen High School has a big focus on academics, but it’s also a school that takes diversity into consideration. The school even offers a special population of students (like ESL students and students with disabilities) special opportunities for success, with support from the administration and fellow students.

Because the school is just under 2500 students, classes are bigger than in other high schools. This has made it easier for students to understand and process all the information they need to be successful.

Students are guided through the English Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, Technology, and Social Studies classes, and encouraged to take challenging honors and Advanced Placement courses in their respective disciplines.

The focus of each class is to prepare students for academic achievement in college and university programs, as well as for gainful employment. Allen High School utilizes more than 60 percent of students for Advanced Placement exams in all three disciplines during their time at the school.
