Assistant Teacher Remedial Teacher / Learning Therapist (German- and English-speaking)
Requirements
- Have appropriate professional qualifications and experience in remedial teaching / special needs (‘Sonderschullehrer’), masters or equivalent in education necessary
- Focus areas are ‘language’, preferably mathematics and ‘learning’
- Excellent skills in communicating with children between the ages of 6 10 and the ability to utilise different methods of skills training
- Have an in-depth knowledge of individual education programmes
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and participate in multi-disciplinary team is essential
- Applicant must be fluent in both English AND German
Responsibilities
- Remedial classes and support for Grades 1 4 as a focus area
- Support for students with diagnosed special needs
- Write the “Nachteilsausgleich” for Grade 1 12 German streams in collaboration with a psychologist and inform the relevant parties
- Liaison with other professionals, such as teachers, language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists
- Work closely with parents and guardians
- Development of individual education programmes / remedial plans with/for the learner, teacher and other parties
- Assessment of children who have long- or short-term learning difficulties and working with colleagues to identify individual learners’ special needs
