UTK Tuition Scholarship
Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the initial step in making a scholarship (including HOPE) application.
The first of February is the priority deadline (NOTE: the priority deadline for the 2022-23 FAFSA has been extended through March 1, 2022). The federal school code for UT is 003530.
Scholarships are available from many of UT’s colleges and academic divisions. Most are given to enrolled students who have satisfied the academic requirements for their majors, however, some are given to incoming freshmen.
You must submit your admissions application by the November 1 early action deadline in order to be eligible for freshmen competitive scholarships, and you must finish your Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) by November 15.
Through the UT application, you can submit a direct application for competitive scholarships.
The colleges that students have applied to will receive application information. Around the middle to late spring, awards are usually given out.
UTK Tuition Grant
Grants are need-based financial aid that doesn’t need a repayment. These are only available to those who have the greatest financial need.
Your eligibility is determined by the FAFSA’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number. A first-come, first-served policy applies to some awards that have a finite amount of funding.
Every year on October 1, FAFSA applications are accessible. After taxes are submitted, figures can be modified and estimated.
Only undergraduate students without a bachelor’s or professional degree often receive federal Pell Awards.
An individual with a postbaccalaureate degree who is enrolled in a course leading to teacher certification might, on rare occasions, be given a federal Pell Grant.

UTK Tuition Loan

The US Department of Education oversees both Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans.
Federal law establishes the reasonable interest rates that are provided by both lending programs. After the loan is disbursed to your UT student account, interest starts to accrue.
The Department of Education will cover the interest on a Direct Subsidized Loan for the first six months following graduation and while you are still enrolled in classes. A Direct Unsubsidized Loan’s interest is solely your burden.

UTK Tuition Work Study
A need-based program, Federal Work-Study (FWS), is available. It allows eligible undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who are enrolled full- or part-time to work a part-time job to assist in funding their education.
Students at UT get an average of $3,000 per year through the FWS program. Your level of financial need and the number of hours you work will decide the exact amount you get.
You will start making $11/hour for jobs on campus and $16/hour for community service jobs off campus on July 1, 2023.
Based on the award amount and their course schedule, FWS students often work less than 30 hours a week. FWS students get biweekly payments that are wired right into their accounts.
