Students who could not afford to attend college as undergraduates get financial aid through the federal Pell Grant program. The government uses the federal technique, a need analysis algorithm developed by Congress to evaluate each student’s financial need.

The student’s eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant is the basis for determining their need for further financial assistance.

Undergraduate students who exhibit extraordinary financial need are eligible for the federally funded Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Programs (FSEOG), which is administered by SFA.

Based on the greatest financial need, UF chooses winners and sets grant amounts. At UF, awards typically range from $100 to $2,000 annually.
