Admission to the University of California, San Diego is moderately selective, with a 34.3% acceptance rate.
This shows that the school is extremely selective. If you meet UCSD’s requirements for GPA, SAT/ACT scores, and other application components, you have a good chance of admission.
However, if your GPA or SAT/ACT scores fall short, you will have a very low probability of acceptance, even if you meet all the other admissions requirements.

GPA Requirements for UC San Diego Admissions
UCSD expects you to be in the top of your class with a GPA of 4.07. To compete with other applicants, you’ll need practically straight A’s in all of your classes.
You should take difficult subjects – AP or IB courses – to show that college-level academics are simple.

If you are a junior or senior, it is difficult to change your GPA in time for college applications.
If your GPA is at or below the school average of 4.07, you’ll need to improve your SAT or ACT score. This will allow you to compete effectively against applicants with greater GPAs than you.
SAT Requirements for UC San Diego Admissions
At UCSD, the average SAT composite score is 1360 out of 1600.
This score places UCSD in the Moderately Competitive category for SAT test scores.
The New SAT 25th percentile score is 1250, and the New SAT 75th percentile score is 1470. A 1250 on the New SAT puts you below average, whereas a 1470 puts you above average.
ACT Requirements for UC San Diego Admissions
UCSD’s average ACT score is 30. With this score, UCSD is quite competitive for ACT scores.
The ACT score in the 25th percentile is 26, and the ACT score in the 75th percentile is 33.
Even if UCSD states that there is no minimum ACT score required, if you apply with a 26 or lower, you will have a very difficult time getting in unless you have something else extremely special in your application.
Because so many candidates have 30s or higher, a 26 will appear cognitively inadequate.

What Day Do UCSD Decisions Come Out?
If you are a first-year student applicant who applied on time, UC San Diego will tell you between the middle of March and the end of March.
If you are a transfer student who applied on time, UC San Diego will contact you between mid-March and April 30.
All UCs will deliver admissions packages to admitted students; campuses will NOT issue letters to unadmitted students.
