The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filled out online as soon as possible after October 1 of the year before you plan to enroll if you need financial aid.

Students can apply for need-based grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study through the FAFSA, which also determines their eligibility for federal loans and other need-based help.

MSU Tuition Loan

You must fulfill the following requirements to be qualified for a Federal Direct Subsidized or Unsubsidized Stafford Loan: A minimum of half-time enrollment is required.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) needs to be submitted each year that they enrolled you in school.

Most applicants for student loans will be eligible for either subsidized or unsubsidized Stafford loans.

While they enrolled a student at least half-time in classes, the federal government covers the interest on a subsidized loan. Interest will build up if the student dips below half-time or quits their studies.

While you are a student, interest accrues on an unsubsidized loan. In order to prevent “paying interest on interest,” you may decide to pay interest while attending school (capitalizing interest).
