Funds Given in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Scholarships

The scholarship has three types of funds for students. These funds include:

1. Financial Needs Funds

These funds aim to relieve international students from the burden of meeting up with fees. Therefore, it covers major expenses like tuition, books, and more.

2. General Funds

These funds are also geared toward student support. However, they are not merit-based but you earn them based on your academic efforts.

3. Diversity Funds

2. Students must be applying to study abroad on related platforms. These platforms include CALS, IndividualsCoE, International Academic Programs (IAP), WSB, or International Internship Program (IIP)

How to Increase Scholarship Chances

With many factors to consider and many applications to review, meeting the eligibility only might not be enough. Thus, students are to back up their applications with other provisions to become stronger applicants. Students can also increase their chances by:

1. Ensuring they attain a good GPA and maintain it.

2. Being a member of any student organization.

3. Being in a leadership position in the student organization and playing an active role within the organization.

4. Earning strong SAT or ACT scores.

5. Completing the FAFSA which gives a higher opportunity for consideration for need-based scholarships.

6. Writing or drafting a clear and concise career statement.

7. Having strong references and persons that can stand for their academic progress.

How to Apply 

The CALS scholarship opens at the beginning of November and closes in February every academic year.

You can apply as the school’s student or a new entrant by getting the application form. Plus, a single application is enough for consideration for all CALS scholarships.

To apply:

1. Visit the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH) Website.

2. Sign in to the site with your NetID and password. You can do this even without being a student in the school.

3. Click on the ‘General Application’ option and fill out the form you gave. The form consists of simple, short questions. The system will match your replies to the options available.

4. Once it matches you, open the ‘College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Application’ and fill it out.

5. Complete the ‘Other Recommended Opportunities’ that corresponds with your ‘General Application’ form.

6. Afterward, submit your application

Furthermore, ensure that you have all the necessary documents before you apply. Your application should include:

  • Original copies of schools transcripts
  • Two letters of recommendation

Application Deadline 

Each academic year, the University of Wisconsin CALS Scholarship Application opens in early November and is available until the start of February.

As soon as you obtain a NetID and access to the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH), you can apply for scholarships there regardless of whether you have been accepted to UW-Madison or not. You can be eligible for all CALS scholarships with only one application.

You must have a FAFSA on file at UW-Madison; the school code for UW Madison is 003895; in order to be evaluated for scholarships that have a financial need requirement. You may find more details on submitting the FAFSA here.

Prior to receiving their funding, all CALS Scholarship recipients must complete the thank you message outlined in their award offer.

An applicant who makes a false declaration or withholds relevant information may be refused admission. In the case where a student has enrolled, he/she will be withdrawn and may be prosecuted.

Any of the vendors listed below must sell an electronic voucher to candidates. Indicate with empathy whether you want to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program.
