Welcome to our University’s Student Financial Services page- containing information on the options we offer students for the payment of their course fees

Course fees, and the options for payment, can vary depending on the cost of your course and whether you are a UK or EU/ non-EU international student. For new starters, your fee will have been confirmed with your offer.

Continuing students should hopefully be aware of their fee for the new year, but if not, assistance is available via our Online Prospectus, our University’s Student Administration Services Team  or via your personal Online Registration and Welcome Login.

For most full time UK undergraduate students joining our University in 2023/22, fees will be £9,250

If you are receiving a tuition fee loan from the Student Loan Company then your fees will be paid by them directly to our University some time after you have enrolled, and the payment options that we describe do not apply to you. We would nonetheless recommend you spend a little time on this page as some of the other information and links may be of interest.

For students who are required to pay their fees whilst studying, below we have provided related documents, describing the payment options available for 2023/22. Each document details our scheme pre-requisites, eligibility criteria, terms and conditions and applicable dates.

Tuition Fees University Home Students Finance Tuition Fees Information on current Tuition Fee Rates In this section you can find details of the tuition fee rates for the current and previous academic years. These pages also contain information on the refund policy, miscellaneous charges and, staff tuition fees. You can make payments towards your tuition fees and accommodation fees in a number of ways. The Student Debt Policy details the University's expectations and procedures for the collection of all student-related debt. Sponsored Students You must provide an official letter from your sponsor as proof that they will pay tuition fees. Please email a copy of this letter to the Tuition Fees team or hand in a copy to the Infohub. If your sponsor fails to make payment for your fees, you will become responsible for payment and we will invoice you directly for the outstanding amount. Students on the MBA (Global) and MSc Finance Programmes Delivered in Partnership with the University's Online Learning Partner IDI Students studying the MBA (Global) and MSc Finance programmes, which are run in partnership with IDI, will be subject to the terms and conditions governing tuition fees which can be found here. Students living and studying in Scotland You may be eligible for your tuition fees to be covered by the Scottish Government, if you are: Scottish domiciled Studying for your first undergraduate degree Studying full-time To find out more, contact the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS). www.saas.gov.uk How to apply Details on how and when to apply are available from SAAS. Students living in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland New students New full-time students from the rest of the UK (RUK) must pay £9250 each academic year. Please consult our Tuition Fees and Living Costs page for more information and for any exceptions. Student Loans Find information on Student Loans here. Repeat or Previous Assistance All students should be aware that eligibility to receive support is normally based on the minimum period of study required for your degree programme - 4 years in most cases (except, for example, MBChB, MChem, MEng and programmes involving a compulsory year abroad or industrial placement, where 5 years are required). If you have already had support from public funds - for example, for an HND which does not give you entry to year 2 of the degree programme - your support may be for 3 years only, so you would not get support for the first year of your degree programme and you would have to pay the tuition fees yourself. If in doubt, ask your Local Authority about that now. Important Funding Information It is essential that changes of subject that necessarily involve an extra year of study be reported to the funding body at the time the change is made. You should always indicate an actual or intended honours programme on your application to the LA, unless you are quite certain that you do not intend to pursue an honours programme. However, any student whose degree intention changes (eg from BTh to BD, BEng to MEng, Non-Honours to Honours) after Registration and who as a consequence will require an extra year of study should contact the Registry as soon as possible so that your LA may be notified. Further Support Available Certain groups of students may also be entitled to claim supplementary grants or allowances. Further information concerning eligibility is available from your Student Finance authority. There is a Hardship Fund which is administered by the Student Support Services section of the University and intended to help students facing unexpected financial difficulties. Assistance is not available to pay tuition fees. The application forms are available to students at the start of session from the InfoHub and any award from this fund is not repayable. Student Finance Contact Details: • Student Finance England • Student Finance Wales • Student Finance Northern Ireland EU Students New EU undergraduate students commencing their studies from September 2021 will be classified as International students for the purpose of tuition fees. In order to help mitigate the impact of Brexit the University has announced a new Undergraduate EU Scholarship. EU Students who started their study during or prior to the 2020/21 academic year, and who have been classed as eligible for the Home tuition fee rate, will remain classified as eligible for this rate for the duration of their studies. International Students When you are studying overseas, it is important that you understand all the costs involved. It is essential to budget for your studies prior to leaving your home country and to arrange all your funding for BOTH your tuition fees and your living costs. To help you budget we have included some information on the cost of study here. All Sponsored Students All sponsored students must submit written evidence on letterhead paper as proof that their tuition fees will be paid by a sponsoring authority, otherwise the University will assume that the student is personally liable for the full payment of tuition fees. Also, if the award-giving body fails to meet the cost of tuition fees, the student will become personally liable for full payment. In these cases a letter will be sent to notify the student that a personal invoice is about to be sent if the sponsor does not pay within 30 days. All Students - Debt If tuition fees, or any other debts to the University, are not paid by the time all examinations and assessments are passed, you will not be permitted to graduate. Students with debt from a previous academic year are not permitted to re-register with the University. Payment in full is required and must be made prior to registration in September.
