Fisheries Research Development Cooperation Ph.D. Scholarship

This project is co-funded by the Fisheries Research Development Cooperation (FRDC), and Future Green Solutions, a small local company, to explore the viability of insect meal produced from Black Soldier Fly larvae as a food source for growing finish.

Concern over the status of European eel, Anguilla Anguilla, stocks is so great that the European Union has legislation (The EC Eel Regulation (1100/2007)) for their protection from human-mediated activities, including entrainment at pumping stations.

This studentship is one of six in the REDEEM research cluster (Research and Development of fish and Eel Entrainment Mitigation at pumping stations) that will focus on understanding fish and eel behavior to minimize entrainment.

For UK/EU postgraduate students the scholarship will include fees at the ‘home/EU’ student rate and maintenance (£14,777) for three years, depending on satisfactory progress.
