The Place On Earth Where There Has Been No Rain For Over 2 Million Years

Have you ever thought if it’s possible for anywhere to exist in the earth where rain doesn’t fall?. I’m sure that many of you have not ever thought about this before, but the fact is that, there’s a place in Earth where there has been no rainfall for the past two million years.

This place is an entire continent, and it is the fifth largest continent in the world. Antarctica is more than twice the size of Australia and almost twice the size of Europe, and yes! There has been no rainfall here for a very very long time. Antarctica is the coldest, windiest and driest continent on planet Earth. It is located in the region of the Southern hemisphere.

According to Wikipedia, no rainfall has happened here for the past two million years. About 98% of Antarctica is covered with very thick sheets of ice of about 1.6km thick. Antarctica contains 90% if the world’s ice.

Only few animals live in Antarctica and most of them are limited to the sub-antartica islands. Popular among themare emperor penguins and polar bears.
