The Detonation Of Two Nuclear Weapons, Over The Japanese Cities That Killed over 226,000 People

 

The United States detonated two nuclear weapons in Japan, over the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the 6th of August, and the 8th of August, in the year 1945. They did this with the consent of the United Kingdom and in agreement with their Quebec Agreement. Both bombings killed between 129,000 and 226,000 people, most of the people that died were civilians. Up till today, the bombings still remain the only use of nuclear weapons for an armed conflict.

In the final year of the World War II, the United States and their allies, prepared an expensive invasion of the Japanese mainland. Before this final nuclear bombing, many bombings had already taken place in about 67 cities.

Although, there’s a rumour that the United States did not want to initially involve themselves in the war, until Japan attacked them and killed many of their people, which happened on USA soil. This is what provoked the United State to carry out one of the biggest attacks of all time.

The war in Europe was already concluded when Germany signed their surrender on the 8th of May, 1945, all USA allies turned their full attention to the Pacific. The allies called for an unconditional surrender of the imperial Japanese armed forces, but Japan was stubborn, they still continued with the war and they were punished severely for it.

In the month of August 1945, USA and their allies produced two types of atomic bombs, and they used Boeing B-29 Superfortress to deliver the bombs from Tinian, which is located in Mariana Island. The allies agreed that the atomic bombs would be dropped on four Japanese cities. On the 6th of August, one of the modified B-29s, dropped one uranium gun-type bomb (“Little Boy”) on Hiroshima. Another B-29 dropped a plutonium implosion bomb (“Fat Man”) on Nagasaki, three days later.

The bomb immediately finished their targets and threw Japan into Chaos and confusion. Over the next two to four months, the acute effects of the atomic bombings killed between 90,000 to 146,000 people in Hiroshima and between 39,000 to 80,000 people in Nagasaki, roughly half of the deaths in these cities happened on the first day.

Large numbers of people continued to die for so many months after the bombings, this was due to the effects of radiation, burns and other injuries. Even though Hiroshima had a high military presence, most of the people that died were civilians. Malnutrition was another factor that killed so many people.

To clear the air on a very popular rumour, the Hiroshima bombing had nothing to do with the facial appearance of Asians. They naturally look like that.

Japan surrendered to the USA on August 15th, The Japanese government signed the instrument of surrender on the 2nd of September at Tokyo Bay.

 

Till date, these bombings are the reason why many nations fear and respect the USA. The USA have upgraded weapons a hundred times more deadly than the bombs use at Hiroshima.
