General nursing programme admission requirements for candidates into the general nursing programme of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria
1. Candidates must have reached the age of 16.
2. Candidates must have at least 5 (five) “Cs (Credits)” grades in their O’level result (s) not more than 2 sittings
3. Candidates must score at least 100 in the JAMB UTME examination.
Requirement for Three Years Register General Nursing Programmes1
Requirements for admission into the General Nursing Programme of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
Applicant must possess the Senior Secondary School Certificate with five credits to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Health Science at not more than 2 sittings—duration of Training: Three Calendar Years.

What’s the Difference Between Basic Nursing and Post-Basic Nursing?
The basic nursing programme is 3 years while the POST-BASIC Nursing programme is 18 months. BASIC Nursing programme is for Secondary School leavers with at least 5 credits including English Language.
Also, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics while the POST-BASIC Nursing programme is for Registered Midwives.
Can I Study Nursing Without WAEC?
The current approved entry requirement is five (5) O’level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language.
Including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings from any of the following: West African Examination Council (WAEC), and National Examination Council (NECO).
