Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, Kano (SRCOE) was established in 1978. It was formerly known as Sa’adatu Rimi College of Preliminary Studies.


It was later renamed Sa’adatu Rimi College of Advanced Studies before being upgraded to a College of Education. The college is named after Hajiya Sa’adatu Rimi, the first female commissioner in Northern Nigeria.

1. Have at least five credits in related subjects, such as English Language, Mathematics, one Science subject, and two other subjects. You can get these credits in one sitting or over two sittings, but not more than five credits in a row.

2. Be at least 16 years old to apply.

3. Have at least five years of education after elementary school.

4. For Direct Entry candidates, you must have at least one upper credit in the appropriate ND program.

5. Get at least the minimum score on the UTME to get into the college. The cut-off mark changes every year based on how much competition there is.

Hostel Accommodation

The hostel accommodation at Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso provides comfortable housing for students. This is during their academic year. Additionally, there are separate hostels for male and female students within the college premises.

5. Additionally, any damage to the hostel property will be charged to the students responsible.

6. Also, cooking and laundry are only permitted in the designated areas. No cooking or washing is allowed in the rooms.

7. Silence must be observed in the hostels after 10 pm so as not to disturb others. Loud music or noise is prohibited.

8. Students must vacate the hostels within 3 days after the end of examinations or the closure of the college for holidays.
