1. INTERNSHIP TOPIC:
“An analysis of ADB’s Accountability Mechanism from a Good Governance Perspective.”
2. SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The intern will analyze the design and implementation of ADB’s Accountability Mechanism using parameters of good governance such as transparency, predictability, participation, responsiveness, etc. The intern will have to propose the parameters for the analysis based on internationally accepted governance practice/framework and assess how the current design and implementation of the Mechanism fares. At the end of the study, the intern should come up with recommendations that might focus on the structure, implementation mechanism, relationship of part/actors, etc. that will improve the Mechanism as an internal and external tool of ADB in promoting good governance.
- Duration: 8 weeks (with a possibility of extension)
- Timing: June 2023
4. LOCATION: ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines (or virtually, based on COVID-19 policies/restrictions)
- Study/analytical research on ADB’s Accountability Mechanism as an internal and external tool to promote governance
- Insights on probable improvement in ADB’s Accountability Mechanism and awarenes upcoming review/probable improvements in the Mechanism
- On the part of the intern, a broader understanding of ADB’s internal governance and how it promotes good governance in its member countries through ADB’s Accountability Mechanism
Qualifications
6. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Currently enrolled in Public Policy, Public Administration/Management, International Development, Development Management; or Social Development.
7. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in policy research, preferably relating to good governance addressing; broad knowledge and operational understanding of governance issues and challenges gained from being a civil servant/public administrator, researcher or professor in the academe.
