Let your Spouse be your Friend

WHEN YOUR SPOUSE IS YOUR FRIEND!

One of my favorite scriptures – Sweet friendships refresh the soul and awaken our hearts with joy, for good friends are like the anointing oil that yields the fragrant incense of God’s presence (Prov 27:9, TPT).

Whoa! A good friend is such a treasure and nothing beats finding such a friend in a spouse. When your children get to grow up in such an environment; that’s the icing on the cake. Please strive for that bond of friendship in with your spouse!

Refresh the soul of your spouse at every opportunity. Encourage and challenge (in love) them to be better daily. Help their weaknesses and strengthen their strengths. Nurture and invest in that relationship and be light in your home (Deep and Bitter Truth).

Don’t accept that marriage MUST have arguments, strife and fighting (Yup I said it and I MEAN it). Be the difference!! Even when you have differences of opinions, be understanding, be respectful and be willing to compromise for each other

Even when challenges come (from outside or inside), don’t turn against each other, remain a house united and God will give you victory. Prune away character or behavioral flaws (immaturity, pride, anger, a bad attitude, etc) in you that may be hindering the peace in your home.

Where the bond is broken, give God room to recreate, refresh, rejuvenate and restore, as you also look inwards to fulfill your part of the marriage covenant. Nobody can do it for you.

Friends, no marriage is perfect but we are all entitled to genuinely enjoy our homes to the fullest as we work towards perfection. God is already helping us by giving us the tools we need from His Word. We must take responsibility and take advantage of His ever present help.

If you believe you’ve done all you know to do but it seems there’s no progress, don’t give up just yet! Prayerfully seek godly counsel for your situation and be sensitive please; don’t accept man-made counsel! I trust God to direct your steps to the right people. Be assured of your prayers for yourself.
