Admission Requirements for KNUST

Before you apply to KNUST through the Admissions Portal, you need to meet the university’s admission requirements. Here are the general requirements for admission into KNUST:

WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants: You need at least a grade C6 (WASSCE) or D (SSSCE) in three core subjects (English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science) and three elective subjects relevant to your program of choice.

Mature Applicants: You need to be at least 25 years old, succeed on the Mature Students’ Entrance Examination (MEE), and pass the elective course necessary for the degree you choose.

You must also receive at least 50% in each of the three core courses (English, Mathematics, and General Paper).

International Applicants: You must have equivalent qualifications to those required of Ghanaian applicants.

Application Fees and Payment Methods on the KNUST Admission Portal

The application fees for local and international students differ. The application price for undergraduate programs is GHS 220, and the charge for postgraduate programs is GHS 250 for local students.

For undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, the application price for overseas applicants is $150 and $200, respectively.

Payment Methods Accepted on the Portal

The KNUST Admission Portal accepts the following payment methods:

Mobile Money Payment

This payment method is only available to Ghanaian applicants. To make a payment via Mobile Money, follow these steps:

  • Dial *170#
  • Select option 2 (MoMo Pay & Paybill)
  • Select option 2 again (Paybill)
  • Enter KNUST’s Merchant ID (902536)
  • Enter your Applicant ID (generated during the application process)
  • Input or enter the amount you want to pay
  • Enter your Mobile Money PIN to confirm payment

Visa/Mastercard Payment

International and local applicants can make payment via Visa/Mastercard on the Admission Portal. Do the following actions to pay:

  • Decide to pay using Visa or MasterCard.
  • Put in your credit card information (card number, expiry date, CVV, etc.)
  • Put the amount you wish to pay in here.
  • To finish the payment procedure, click “Pay Now.”

Bank Payment

Applicants can also make payment at any branch of Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) or Ecobank using their Applicant ID generated during the application process.

Note: Applicants should ensure that they keep the payment receipt or confirmation slip as proof of payment.
