Begin the Conversation

When you meet with someone, try to start up the conversation. You don’t necessarily need to start talking with just some random stranger. You’ll seem weird if you try to pull up such a move.

However, when you feel you’d like to know someone more, then give it a shot.

Listen and Express Yourself

When you or the other person ignites the conversation, listen to what the person has to say. Try to pick points from what the person says as that’s the easiest way to have an idea of them. When you get their points, give your honest opinions about it in a pleasant and friendly manner.

Avoid Sudden Stops

Don’t end the conversation abruptly. Instead, keep it going by bringing new topics and opinions. Letting silence in or cutting the person off can create a tense atmosphere and kill the relationship.

Give a Welcoming Presence

Make the person feel like you’re open to them. Don’t be boastful or pretentious to avoid the person thinking negatively of you. Finally, remember that the first-time impressions you create determine the outcome of the relationship in the long run.
