Basically, the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships are for a certain kind of students. These sets of students are those who are in dire need of education. However, for reasons that are entirely not their fault, they have been denied education in one way or the other. For clarity, the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships are for the historically underrepresented graduate students. It is meant to provide support, encouragement, and to fund their studies in University College Dublin (UCD) Michael Smurfit School from the United States of America.

So, if you are a citizen or permanent resident in the United States of America, and you are a graduate student from the historically underrepresented community. Clearly, it is time for you to apply for a spot on the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships. Also, the scholarship will take you to Ireland.

Ireland is in Northwestern Europe. It is an island in the North Atlantic. More so, Ireland is the second-largest island of the British Isles, the third-largest in Europe, and the twentieth-largest in the world. The largest city in Ireland is Dublin. Basically, Dublin can be termed a tourist site because it has popular attraction sites and receives lots of tourists every year. Achill Island is one of the most popular tourist sites in Ireland. Again, it is the largest Island in Ireland with 5 beaches and a tourist destination for surfing.

Literally, Ireland has some of the finest universities across the globe. It has become another major schooling destination for international students. And, the country and its universities welcome international students with warm open arms. Usually, the universities in Ireland have world-class facilities and labs that make them compete globally. They also graduate employable individuals.

The University College Dublin (UCD) Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School

Firstly, the University College Dublin (UCD) Micheal Smurfit Graduate Business School is located in Dublin, Ireland. Also, it came out of the UCD Faculty of Commerce which later became the first institution in Europe to offer a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Interestingly, in 2023, this business school ranked 28 in the Financial Times ranking for the leading business schools in Europe. Not only that, it came 3rd in the world for Business School’s Masters in International Management.

Furthermore, the business school belongs to so many memberships and associations worldwide. To begin with, it is a member of the Global Alliance In Management Education. Cooperation of leading business schools and universities, and multinational companies. Also, the school is a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB). Now, the AACSB is an American Professional Organization that provides accreditation to schools and businesses.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships

As always, there is a reason behind everything. This means that the reason behind this scholarship is to recruit and support historically underrepresented graduate students in the United States of America. So, this scholarship is for United States of America Citizens that want to go to a business graduate school.

Now, the University College Dublin business school is ready to offer financial support to promising graduate students. These students must have completed their undergraduate degrees and would like to go further. Like, undertaking a full-time, graduate, taught Masters of Science (MSc), or Masters of Business Administration (MBS) at the University College Dublin (UCD) Smurfit School.

Furthermore, this scholarship supports students that their engagement in the school contributes to the diversity of thoughts in the classroom and among fellow students. This Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships is the UCD’s ‘RISING TO THE FUTURE’ strategy created in 2023 and will last till 2024.

 Value of scholarship

As a matter of fact, the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships award is not renewable, transferable, or paid in cash. However, the scholarship has a maximum level of support of 50% tuition fees for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Requirements

  • Candidates must meet these requirements before they can be accepted.
  • Self-identifies as a member of a historically underrepresented population in the U.S.
  • Must receive an offer of a placement as a full-time MSc or MBA student at UCD Smurfit School, first.
  • You must have successfully completed the undergraduate program.
  • You earned a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Also, you must be a citizen of the United States of America.
  • You must be able to demonstrate your sustained personal commitment to historically underrepresented communities in the U.S and in the Academy. Besides, you must be able to bring diversity into the learning, teaching, and/or engagement of the university community.

How to Apply

  • Have a completed UCD Application
  • A CV
  • An official copy of all undergraduate transcripts
  • An essay that describes your contribution to your academic field of study, your sustained personal commitment with the historically underrepresented communities in the United States of America. Also, how you self-identify as a member of a historically underrepresented population on campus. (maximum of 500 words)
  • An essay that demonstrates your willingness to serve as an ambassador for UCD Smurfit school for future students from the USA (maximum of 500 words, double spaced).

Note that, UCD Smurfit Scholarships are not applicable to courses in UCD Smurfit Executive Development, UCD Belfield campus, or programs run in conjunction with UCD Belfield. This includes MSc in Biotherapeutics and Business and MSc in International Law and Business.

Also, as a candidate, you cannot transfer or use one scholarship or bursary against or between another program.

Scholarship Terms and Conditions

  • Applicants must apply before July 16
  • The scholarship is not to be combined with other UCD scholarships
  • Classes commence in early September 2023
  • No cash alternative
  • No substitutions allowed
  • Canvassing will disqualify
  • The winner must agree to participate in publicity, social media, press releases, or if applicable, attend University events if you are asked.
  • The continuation of the scholarship funding is subject to the awardee passing all exams at the end of the first trimester.
