*Once enrolled, international students are automatically covered by Université Laval’s group health and hospitalization insurance plan. However, because of a social security reciprocity agreement between Québec and France, French students may be exempted from the plan if, before departing for Québec, they obtain an official certificate from their country’s social security system.

International students

Tuition fees for international students enrolled at UL include basic tuition fees and a lump sum. However, there is a Supplemental Tuition Fee Exemption Program that exempts eligible students from paying the lump sum usually required. If you qualify for this program, you will pay the same tuition as a Québec student.

Université Laval has expanded its Supplemental Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship Program for doctoral students so that all international students enrolled in a full-time regular PhD program are eligible.

Some refugees, diplomatic personnel, and personnel from non-governmental international organizations are exempted from additional tuition fees. If you qualify for one of these exemptions, you will pay the same tuition fees as Québec students.
