Coast Mountain College School Acceptance fee is a fee that you must pay to any university or Polytechnic as a first-year student/fresher denoting that you have accepted the course and in general the admission that has been offered to you by the school.

University College of the North is $13.80  for Academic Session.

Admission 

  • Application fee is $158.00 + GST and is non-refundable. (Admission Application)
  • International students are responsible to ensure they meet the program requirements and deadlines before they apply.
  • Deadline for completed applications is April 1.
  • Applications must be complete before they will be processed.  Incomplete applications may result in rejection of the application.  Programs may have limited space for international students.
  • Applicants will be considered only in the Regular Student classification.  An international student is not eligible to apply as a Mature Student or as a Special Student.

English Language Proficiency Requirement
English is the primary language of instruction at UCN.  Students must demonstrate English language proficiency in order to participate in all aspects of course work.

Applicants with previous education outside of Canada and/or education in a language other than English must submit proof of English proficiency with either of the following:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum of 550 on the paper-based test with no less than 50 in each component or Internet-based test score of 80 with no less than 20 in each component
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum overall band score of 6.5; and with no individual band scores less than 6.0
  • Minimum scores may vary according to individual programs
Academic Requirements
  • All applicants are responsible to ensure that their documents are verified by World Education Services (WES) prior to applying at UCN.   www.wes.org
  • If courses are being verified for purposes other than admission, the verification must be a course by course evaluation. (International Document Verification)
  • Specific programs may have additional admission requirements

Financial Aid
International students are not eligible for financial assistance through either student loans or bursaries offered by the Government of Manitoba or UCN.
Health Insurance
International students are required to have health insurance while studying in Canada.  Insurance is charged upon registration for the Fall term and payable by the posted fee payment deadline date.  Health insurance for UCN students is through guard.me International Insurance. For more information regarding the guard.me plan please visit https://www.guard.me/ucn.  Length of coverage is for one year (Aug 1 to July 31) with an estimated cost per student.  Students entering in any term other than the Fall term must contact guard.me International Insurance to arrange coverage under the UCN required plan.  Cost of insurance will be prorated as to the start date of your entrance to UCN, with coverage ending July 31 of that school year.
NOTE: Oulton’s is required by legislation to collect a fee equal to 1% of tuition for the student protection fund.

Cost of living

As well as tuition and fees, you need to plan for the day-to-day costs of a student living away from home, such as food, accommodation and socializing. Print the cost-of-living table and include it with your study permit application.

Immigration Status Change

If you receive Permanent Resident, Protected Person, or Convention Refugee status in Canada, tuition and fees will be assessed at the domestic rate beginning in the term the change in immigration status takes effect. If notification and the applicable supporting documentation is received by the OUR by the Last day to add or drop Regular Session classes, the change takes effect in the current academic term. Any notification, including the submission of supporting documentation, received after the Last day to add or drop Regular Session classes will result in the change taking effect in the next academic term.

Refugees or Protected Persons

If the IRB has accepted your claim and you have Convention Refugee or Protected Person status, submit your Notice of Decision to the OUR. Convention Refugees or Protected Persons who do not have Permanent Residence status must consult with a regulated immigration advisor at MacEwan International before applying to the university to discuss study permit requirements while awaiting a decision on their Permanent Residence status application.

Refugee or Protected Person claimants

Refugee or Protected Person claimants whose Notice of Decision is pending are deemed to be an international student when enrolled at the university and are subject to all policies and regulations applicable to international students. This includes the assessment of tuition and fees which are assessed at the international tuition rate. Most Refugee and Protected Person claimants require a study permit to pursue post-secondary studies. Consult a regulated immigration advisor at MacEwan International to discuss your study permit requirements.
