Admission Process of Allison Middle School

Allison Middle School and Duncan Middle School accept applications for admission to Allen High School. Applications must be completed by each Middle School Student or parent.

Applications will be returned to the home office in the form of a pdf file to the student’s homeroom teacher. All Allen High School Admissions application packets are now being sent home with all 9th- 12th-grade students.

The school’s enrollment process begins in the 8th grade when families submit the application. Once accepted, families are notified through letters and a class tour. Families can visit on an academic field trip, which takes place during 8th grade. Those who don’t have the time can go on an admissions day in 7th grade.

• Third grade. By entering the Allen High School Program in the 7th grade, students have the opportunity to enroll in the Allen Middle School Program which offers rigorous learning environments including standards-based project-based curriculum, a computer lab, professional development, and a strong focus on student achievement.

• Third grade. Students entering the Allen High School Program in the 7th grade must successfully complete the ASHIS standardized assessment in math and reading and pass the fifth grade cut score in those same subjects.

Academics

Allen High School’s college preparatory curriculum is based on rigorous standards, challenging coursework, and flexible, hands-on learning.

In addition to regular courses in math, English, science, social studies, and physical education, students take courses in art, band, choir, and drama. Advanced courses in coursework, including Advanced Placement and honors courses, are available.

Students receive a high school diploma upon completion of 12th grade. Students may also earn an associate’s degree from College Southwest or Dallas County Community College District upon high school graduation.

AHS students may participate in optional college preparatory classes. Some students take courses at local universities or attend College Southwest or DCCCD to receive an associate’s degree.

Technology

Computer Science Lab: All Allen students have access to a 21st-century lab equipped with state-of-the-art computers and other high-tech resources. This includes Macs, iMacs, MacBooks, iPods, Chromebooks, and Windows desktops.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM): Students have access to a state-of-the-art science lab that includes two microscopes and a Planetarium projector. The lab provides the opportunity to take college-level science courses at the University of Texas at Austin. The school also provides advanced placement (AP) opportunities in the science and mathematics fields.

College Prep

What scholarships are available?

Allen High School offers one of the highest tuition rates in the state. Students also receive a large variety of award packages, from merit-based scholarships through local foundations and corporations.

However, the bulk of our funding comes from general state funds. General state funding is based on a formula that takes into account the number of students served, and the costs of educating each student, which means, as the student population grows, so too does our funding.

There are no requirements for students to apply for any kind of scholarship from Allen High School.

Scholarships Available

Allen High School offers a competitive scholarship program. The University of Texas Scholars Program provides free tuition and fees for Texas residents who plan to attend the University of Texas at Austin.

Eligible students are also guaranteed a financial award equal to at least 60 percent of their tuition and fees during the first year. These scholarships are renewable each year for up to four additional years.

Classes: Allen High School has over 85 sections of 12th grade Spanish, 19 sections of 12th grade English, and 27 sections of 12th-grade Computer Science. In addition to core classes in core areas, students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of electives.

What is life like at Allen High School?

With such an awesome build, Allen High School is packed with all kinds of innovation, which is evident throughout the campus. The school is set up in a traditional format, with the front of the campus featuring a beautiful, open grassy quad area that is dotted with the different wings of the school, each with its own unique character.

The school is split up into two levels, with the lower level consisting of the vocational wing, with a theatre, metal shop, art studio, and special programs. On the other side of the main campus are the academic wings. The science wing has the new Biology lab, the Early Childhood Center, and the office for the district superintendent.

Allen High School is over 100 years old, but despite the age of the school, it has been through many renovations and renaming. The school, located in Dallas, is a public high school in the Dallas Independent School District.

The total population of the school is almost 8,200 students, with roughly 28% being Hispanic and African American, 23% being White, and 17% being other. The majority of students, 70%, come from ethnic minorities.
